Message In A Bottle

Mrs CBL and I have always hoped that one day we’d find a message in a bottle on one of our beach walks .  Well, today was the day that our hope became a reality!

At the far end of the beach Mrs CBL spotted a bottle lying on the shoreline and walked over to pick it up with the intention of putting it in the box* for rubbish .

Mrs CBL shouted excitedly to me, “Stewart, you’ll never guess, I’ve found a bottle with a photo in it!” I walked over to take a look at it and inside I saw a photo, a rolled up piece of paper and some ashes.

Mrs CBL opened the bottle carefully (it was an empty half bottle of Smirnoff Vodka) and managed to remove the roll of paper which had a message written on it.  As well as the note there was £5 note!  So we will carry out the wishes of the person who threw the bottle into the sea.

I wonder if, through social media, they find out where Johnny’s bottle was found they might be a wee bit disappointed that the waves hadn’t taken it to somewhere more exotic than Cruden Bay?

*We have a few fish boxes, which have been lost overboard from passing trawlers, secreted above the tide line at various points along the beach, to put rubbish in.  We, and others, put plastics, glass and other debris in them.  From time to time someone, we know not who, empties them.  Good deeds done!
