A festive evening
Tonight is the start of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, and cousin Diane invited us all to her house for dinner and blessings. I've told you about her amazing new kitchen, and she had used it to make a feast. There were apple slices and honey (a traditional food), chicken soup with matzo balls, barbequed salmon, noodle kugel (my favorite), a salad with lots of pomegranate seeds (also traditional), a challah and two desserts, apple cake and chocolate babka. In the Extra you see the twins deciding if they like matzo balls.
The special treat for me was that the twins had made me a New Year's card, dictated to Andrew, and signed by Sam (upside down on the right hand page.) You may remember that Andrew told the boys I had to practice reading because I was in a competition as a way to get them to let me read to them. I was so touched that they thought of that. All in all a lovely evening, although I ate too much.
Back to dialysis tomorrow.
