We hit the jackpot
in the wildlife world today -
heron, otter, deer!
My brother and I were up draining the coffee pot at 7, but waited for the light to improve to venture with my camera. I stepped out on my deck to get my first shot of my mountains before the sun appeared.
We left for MacArthur Island Park and were handsomely rewarded.
We spotted a blue heron in the slough so we parked and walked to the edge. I got several shots of the heron as it waded slowly through the slough. Suddenly, an otter popped up onto a sunken log. It was fishing the slough as well.
We walked across the footbridge to have a look into the slough and get a shot of my mountains on the far side.
We drove around the circle road to the parking lot on the west side to discover two does grazing in the grass. I caught one with her mouth open in a rather unladylike pose. The other ignored me completely and continued to munch the grass.
Mission accomplished, we picked up my usual breakfast in the drive-thru and headed for home.
I'm in for the day with a few odd jobs on my list. We should make some plans for dinner as I expect my brother will go home tomorrow.
