Work in progress

Richard spotted news of this mural on Facebook. It's by a bus stop on a long-neglected main road down near the River Don, not far from our street. So it's great to see some public art being supported there.
I introduced myself to the artist and explained about the voluntary mural-recording that I'm doing for ArtUK at the moment. I would have liked to find out more about him, but he had a friend there who clearly wanted a quiet chat with him herself. So I backed off and will pop back another day; he said that he'd be working on the piece for a few days more.
What I really like, in this image, is how you can see the new painting emerging from what was there before.  This area was once full of dense terraced streets clustered around small factories (making cutlery, tools and the other steel products that made Sheffield famous). This guy, had he been born 100 years earlier, might have worked in one of them.
