Wound up in Wexford

Tacumshane windmill

In the morning, I had flute group in Wexford.  Late morning, W and our visitors drove out to Wexford to pick me up, and we went to the coast.  We had lovely sunny weather.  We stopped off at The Karoo for "a snack".

First a good walk around (Our) Lady's Island*. (First extra)

Then we went a little inland to Tacumshane windmill.  We'd been there a couple of times before, but never inside.  U saw the notice on the door saying the key was available at the restaurant next door, and went off to request it.

Inside, we were able to go up some mildly challenging steps all the way to the top floor.

After enjoying some time there, we looked for something else to do, as (having eaten a better lunch than intended) we weren't yet ready to eat our planned fish and chip supper.  I spotted a place called Shell Cottage on Google Maps just along the coast, so we drove there.  A fascinating bit of work by a local house owner - see a couple of photos in extras.  There was also a hardy lady enjoying a sea dip!

We then went to Kilmore Quay and stuffed ourselves on a fish and chip supper.

Then W had to drop me back in Wexford to collect my car.

* Originally a pagan site (Cluain-na-mBan – ‘the meadow of the women’), taken over by the church, who added "Our" to the name!
