The Looping Boat

A sunny morning, and a chance to go and visit a recently-installed art work on the Sheffield and Tinsley canal. It's by Alex Chinneck, and celebrates local industrial heritage.  Although the ArtUK phase of documenting sculptures has formally ended, they're still collecting images of new work, in parallel with documenting murals.  There's a view of the Looping Boat in context in the extra. I like its slightly surreal quality.
What a pleasure this was. I explored the small Tinsley marina a little, watching people at work on bits of boat and car maintenance. Then I walked over a bridge and along the towpath to the site of the sculpture. There were few people around, and autumn colours were just beginning to show in the trees. Lovely.
I uploaded yesterday's blip before we went out in the evening to the theatre. We saw Ibsen's 'A Doll's House'. What an intense play! Previously I'd only seen his 'An Enemy of the People', which I loved. Last night's production was beautifully done, with a real star turn from the actor playing the central woman character. Hard to watch in places, I don't think this piece has lost any of its relevance, even though much has changed since it was written.
