On duty
I had an appointment to see a new GP today. The surgery is on the same site as Hexham General Hospital. Yang was on duty as usual and enjoying some early autumn sunshine.
I phoned the surgery this morning and expected a phone consultation at best, but I was offered an appointment this afternoon. So different from my previous surgery.
I really enjoyed having a proper consultation with someone who asked appropriate questions and examined me. Sadly, this is a novelty these days.
I need to have a full asthma review after the current episode subsides. Hopefully I will have my normal voice back when I meet her again.
Now for a rant about the police. Most of you know that I lost my iPad in Schipol airport and it is currently residing in a residential block in Amsterdam.
The Dutch police would not take a crime report when I was in Spain. The British police call handler 3 days ago said she could not take it, but her supervisor said she could.
Today was the turn of a police officer. No, they don’t take details of crimes abroad. She referred me to the government website which states quite clearly:
When you return to the UK, you may want to report the crime to your local UK police, even if you did not report it in the country where it happened. UK police can send your information to the police in the country where the crime happened, but they cannot investigate it or tell foreign police to investigate it. Foreign police forces are under no obligation to open a case, particularly if the crime was not reported before you left the country, and may not take action.
Talk about going around in circles!
I don’t expect to see my iPad again but I would like to claim on the insurance……
