Can I bear it

Well, yes, because I like Paddington Bear - both the books and the films -  but I'm not a fan generally of what's been done to County Hall, the former seat of London local government, since Margaret Thatcher abolished Greater London Council in 1986. She had been annoyed by the Labour controlled GLC, led by Ken Livingstone, displaying anti-government messages on the building which is across the river from  the Houses of Parliament. The building opened in 1922 on what had been an industrial site to house the then London County Council. It was extended and the extra wings opened in 1939. After the GLC closed it was bought by a Japanese property investor and has since undergone a complete change of use with an upmarket hotel and various "popular" attractions. The 'Paddington Experience' is a recent arrival and, whilst I don't thinks it's aimed for the likes of me (unless I had grandchildren in tow), I'm happy to tolerate it.
