Paradise
We both slept for about ten hours last night after a long tiring journey.
We had a leisurely start and then walked along the beach to the nearest “ town “ . It’s tiny with a few hotels a couple of little quirky supermarkets selling essentials for everyday life here plus a few touristy things. We went to a bar on the beach for a cooling drink where I had the most delicious passion fruit iced tea and LooseCanon had a very unadventurous Coke.
I went to a boutique I’d spotted and bought a colourful printed “Hawaiian” type shirt, which should come in useful for Ukelele band.
On the way back we called in for lunch at a little bar where they sell fresh fish with rice and salad. It’s a family run little place and the son, Elijah , goes off in his blue fishing Pirogue every morning to catch whatever he can. It is barbecued by his mother to order. We loved it.
After a bit of a rest we went down the beach with our snorkels. I’d just stepped into the water when I spotted a stingray. Only a little one as they go I think. I backed out hastily and we decided to find out a bit more about them before venturing in again so that was a bit frustrating. I guess we were a bit over cautious but I didn’t want to do a Steve Irwin.
Dinner tonight was a Creole buffet. It was delicious.
We ate among other things, octopus curry and shark “ chutney” . It was very very good.
