Horse Tetherer
I like a wander around Doune, always something new to spot. They must have recently popped up a lot of 'historical' signage, as they're gleaming new, and I've not spotted them before.
The one for this property informs me the building used to be the Mile End Coaching Inn, which lost its booze licence in 1890, when the owner shuffled off his mortal coil. It became a temperance Inn thereafter.
This detail is an original feature left in place; tether your horse here. Nobody was using it on this drizzly Sunday afternoon.
Inside, a millstone and well still survive.
Extra: busy bee knocker.
