Primrose Wood
Ailie, Chris and I were going to make the climb up Simonside this morning if the weather was favourable. When I woke it was covered in cloud so I called Ailie to make another plan. She decided she’d drive to me and we could go round the moor. Chris didn’t want to come as she was weary after her flu jab. ( and possibly the night out).
Meanwhile Mr C’s man cold required bed rest. He did a negative Covid test.
We were out 3 hours and I was whacked by the time we got back. I hope it’s only the flu jab and I’m not just terribly unfit. We did 6 miles - most of it seemed uphill! I liked the orange bracken against the green, spotted on our way down Primrose woods before hitting the last uphill.
Carol has lots of leftovers so wants us over tonight instead of Wednesday. Mr C thinks he’ll manage - she’s ok about his cold.
I’m ploughing on with “Lost Pianos of Siberia”. It’s got a lot of interesting history and information about this vast area but there’s so many names of random people the author met on her many journeys in Siberia that I’m struggling with.
