Choices, choices

A toy catalogue that came though the post was seized upon at the latest sleepover.
Five year old desperately wants a 'virtual pet'. Wouldn't you rather have a real pet? I ask. No!! You can switch  this on and off and make it do things.
Ooh, I love ballerinas says 3 year old,  pointing.
They were deeply engaged and highly animated as they apportioned, hypothetically, the objects of desire.
A toy vanity case, a set of Magical Unicorns and a fairy multi-activity box were also picked, but (to my relief) so were a volcano kit, The Human Body under X-ray, and a WhipFlash light-up remote control buggy.
I doubt they will follow gendered paths into whatever futures they chose.
