The Bridge Inn, Horton
As this stretch of canal is the closest to my home it is quite a familiar sight to me, and I have walked along the towpath from the road bridge in both directions on many occasions. For some reason, though, I had never ventured inside the pub. I set about seriously putting that to rights, planning to have a swift half in their beer garden, overlooking the canal. When I went inside I was pleased to discover they had Wadworth's recently introduced and most excellent Corvus Stout on draught.
Unfortunately, as it was being poured, I discovered I had failed to replenish my funds and was in an impecunious cash state. My debit card came to the rescue but I needed to spend over £5 and so I had to order additionally one of their chicken and bacon warm salad baguettes. This was hardly a hardship and it turned out to be exactly what was required to accompany me in the garden alongside a magazine and my camera.
The towpath is on the other side of the canal but there is a pathway to the boats that are moored below the pub and so I was able to enjoy a previously unexplored vantage point and get some pictures.
