Fixed Jack

Our last outdoor bowls club competition today, previously delayed due to adverse weather and diary conflicts.

The competition entails aiming for a target of three concentric circles with a jack placed in the middle, hence the title Fixed Jack. More points are scored the closer to the centre the bowl comes to rest, with a bonus point for hitting the jack. Four rinks are marked out with varying lengths from the mat to the target. And, to make it even more difficult, competitors have to alternate between backhand and forehand shots.

It's simpler than I've described it but challenging to score well, particularly as the green is much heavier at this time of year. Anyway, a decent turn-out, much fun was had and we finished before it started to rain!
