Girls day out

Backblipped Sunday

Busy morning to get organised for heading into town for a late lunch with the girls. Took Phin back to Newbattle in the morning but our normal route was curtailed by a police van and tape cordoning off the pathway. Apparently a young woman was seriously attacked yesterday around 5.30 in the evening and was rushed to hospital. That was a little frightening as I’m often there early evening.

There was a high police presence and I came across two Constance’s patrolling the other side of the river.

Home to get ready but was running late fur the bus so Mr PHL kindly took me to the bus stop closer to town where two of my friends were waiting. Made the bus with minutes to spare.

Lots of traffic en route and then the bus had to detour round the back of the St Jake’s Quarter and head along Queen street before finally getting back onto Princes st. There was a pro-Palestinian march on Princes st so it had been closed off. Pity we hadn’t been made aware as we were late to meet up with our other friend but at least we made it to the restaurant in time for our 2.45 reservation.

Lunch was delicious at an Argentinian restaurant where the meat is served from skewers and accompanied by delicious sides and as much as we liked to help ourselves to from the buffet table.

After lunch we piled into an Uber and headed back to Susan’s house so her wee dog wasn’t on her own for too long. Suffice to say we drank rather more Prosecco than was good for us but had a lovely evening in the Prosecco hut.

Slight panic when the handle to the door came apart trapping us inside but we were able to get out via the full length window - not, as they’d been painted shut. A bit of shoogling and the handle was reattached.

It got fairly late so I took Nicola home with me where we sensibly stocked up on pints of water before bed.

Thanks to davidc for hosting SillySaturday in memory of Admirer.
