Look Out

Bee Active

Surprisingly, the morning saw some sunshine, and R noticed that there was quite a bit of insect activity in their back garden. So we went out to look at the beehive. He had given up beekeeping years ago but had an old hive in the garden. This year a swarm arrived and took it over as their new home. They don’t enter through the bottom as they are meant to do, but through a crack more than half way up.

R has already had quite a bit of honey out of the hive. As we watched the bees, wasps appeared trying to enter. Apparently if the bees are able to overcome them then it’s a sign of a healthy hive. This hive is doing well.

A bit later R,L and I travelled to Llangollen to have Sunday lunch with the nieces and my BiL. Today is a rest day, they recommence their big walk tomorrow, heading across the Clwydian Hills.
