Mary Pratt

I attended one of the  events at the Writers Festival, Anne Koval reading from her book Mary Pratt, A Love Affair with Vision.   I bought the book the night before at the opening reception, and have been really enjoying  it.  

I love reading about how artists find their voice and their way of painting.  Mary Pratt's paintings have always intrigued me, so realistic, and detailed, not a painting style i want to do, but nonetheless i admire it very much and find inspiration in her work.  She talks about her paintings as being self portraits....married to a well known male painter, Christopher Pratt, and being the wife and mother at home, with 4 children, left her little time or energy for her own painting.  But she somehow managed to do what she had to do...paint!   It's a fascinating read - and it has so many beautiful images of her paintings.
