Blue Man Group

I hadn’t planned on swimming this morning, but when I awoke at 7am and saw what a lovely morning it was I couldn’t resist. I raced up to Redbrook to join Kelly and Cath. It was noticeably cooler…10°…but we were in for twenty five minutes. I am so glad I went as I felt fantastic afterwards.

This evening I went to the Lowry to see The Blue Man Group with Sue. They were absolutely amazing. It was a techno overload as we were bombarded with lights and sounds. They beat on paint splattered drums, on pipes and on sticks. It was a sensory explosion. I’d booked the back row of the stalls as I wanted an aisle seat and I thought I’d get a good view. Well, it would have been if it wasn’t for the large woman with a bun on either side of her head blocking my view. But………this didn’t matter as a man who worked with the show came up to ask if we would pretend to be latecomers about ten minutes into the show. We would be led down the aisle to two seats all the while being filmed from on stage and streamed on the big screen. The seats we were to go to had nothing in front of them and prime view of the stage. We agreed.

The show started and after ten mins or so a red light flashed on the screen behind the three blue men…LATE COMERS flashed and this was our cue. We were led in to cheers, whoops and calls. We pointed accusingly at each other and then did a celebratory hand raise. There were lots of people who had obviously seen the show before and knew these things happened. The hard core fans were in the front rows wearing plastic capes to protect them from paint and water. It was an amazing show and I can highly recommend it. There is a lot of audience participation.
