It's a balancing act

A little bit of a melancholy day, weirdly. It seems I crave a day with nothing to do and when I get one I want to spend time with people...lol.
There is a really big fire in the north eastern part of the state and I think that is where all the smoke that is blanketing Laramie today is coming from. It has been a cool, gorgeous fall day except for the smoke making everything hazy and the smell is really strong. There isn't much wind today and so I think the smoke has just settled between our mountains. We have had a very dry fall and are a long way off from seeing snow.
I rode my bike around town for a while this morning and looked at Halloween decorations, which was fun.
Then this afternoon I drove over to a park that I don't go to much but it's really nice. There are lots of huge cottonwoods which are in beautiful color. There was a band playing for some political thing. Lots of folks were at the park just enjoying the weather and the smoke didn't seem to matter. I did a lot of people watching. The guy in my blip had a band strung between two trees and was walking along it. He never made the whole thing but it was fun to watch.
Tomorrow the school is going on a field trip up to the Happy Jack area. It should be a fun day. I think the breeze will be up a bit so I hope the smoke is less.
