Cape Breton - Day 3
It started raining overnight and there were still some showers in the area this morning. We had breakfast at the cottage this morning with most of the group. Then packed up our things to head for home.
We retraced part of the route from yesterday so we could head down the western side of the island from Inverness to Mabou and back to the causeway. In the extras I have shown the beach at Inverness and some fall color in Mabou. The main photo was taken along the same route that we started yesterday. There was reflections and fall color and mist on the mountains.
This afternoon Karen and I couldn't quite agree on the temperature in the car. If it is too warm I tend to get drowsy when driving on the highway. So I had turned the air conditioning on to cool. Then she changed it to warm, I had to tell her that I needed cool air. I got off the highway for awhile to refocus. We turned down one road that I knew would take us to Pictou. Just ahead of that turn was the sign to get back onto the highway to Truro. Karen thought I should have went there. We got to Pictou, there is a roundabout there. If I had followed the sign for Truro it would have taken us back the way we came. So I took another exit to get on a road that I knew would eventually take us back to the highway to Truro. I had to explain to her twice that I needed a break from the highway where everyone is driving 120+ km/hour. That car likely travelled faster and longer this weekend than what she has ever driven it.
My friend who had the stroke has now been moved to rehab and will likely be there for a couple of weeks. She sounds better than she did, she still has some problems with her left hand, but at least she is not paralyzed. She knows that her days of being lazy are over, that she has to start getting more exercise, and she will have to start eating better too.
