Cottage Garden
A traditional cottage garden in this country is one that is filled to overflowing with flowering perennials, to the extent that they completely cover every square inch of soil. It is almost a crime to see any bare soil in such a garden. If the flowers are heavily scented, so much the better, and it seems that herbs and even vegetables are perfectly acceptable as long as they flower profusely over a long period and, if possible, are scented as well. At least, that's what my Granny taught me and I'm sure she was right!
