Burnham Low Lighthouse
I was keen to revisit Burnham after my recent trip with the landscape group. A friend suggested visiting today as the weather was looking good and we should get a sunset. That sounded great and we headed off in her car with me parking mine at a park and share carpark near junction 29 of the M5.
It was a delightful sunny day and we stopped at Burnham first where it was low tide and so enabling us to view the lighthouse from all sides, see extra. After that we visited Weston super Mare and took various shots of the pier. By then the traffic on the local roads was building up as we drove back to Burnham for sunset. We were a little late and greeted with some beautiful orange colours as the sun quickly slid below the clouds at the horizon. We stayed on the beach taking images and delighting in the blue hour and it was quite dark as we headed back to the car. You can just see the lights of Hinkley Power station (nuclear) in the distance.
Once on the motorway I suddenly wondered if the carpark would be shut. On line it suggested 9pm and I thought it unlikely we would make that. In fact shortly afterwards we found that the motorway was shut in both directions from junction 26 to 28. So I had to spend the night at my friends house and we didn't arrive there until 10.30pm. It was a late evening meal. In fact the carpark closed at 8.15pm we found out later. It was an enjoyable day though.
