Diary of an Edinburgher

In which we meet a robot…

JR has recovered! Though she had another slow morning (no gym) she then got up. She had a doctor appointment, so she had to! Just to chat about her yearly MOT.

I got an email asking how I enjoyed my visit to the V&A on Saturday! Had they not got my email and voicemail cancellations? I rang them at 10.04, as soon as their office opened. I got a very obnoxious woman who more or less accused me of harassing them with emails and voice mails. AND she said I’d already rung three times this morning. She just kept talking over me. I may go and make a complaint when I’m there on Saturday, if I haven’t calmed down enough…

I then popped back to the opticians. My eyes have been kind of sore, like I’ve been in a swimming pool for too long. They checked them over. It’s a bad case of ‘dry eye’, but also a wee something they’ll check again in six months. They gave me drops. It was so hot and sunny I was definitely overdressed!

This evening we went to the first ever event at the new Futures Building in the old hospital. It was Jeanette Winterson talking to a robot… Yes, sounds interesting. But the robot, Ameca was also quite annoying. The robot cannot be interrupted. We got the gist after about five minutes, so that bit went on a bit too long. The conversation with the humans was much better. I have ‘Oranges are Not the Only Fruit’’ recorded. Must re-watch it again soon.

Just watching the special programme about October 7th attack on Israel. Heartbreaking.
