Bobby Sands
We caught the 11:30 ferry to Belfast today and then went for a Turf walk in and around the Falls Road. I wanted to see this mural of Bobby Sands as I had created a Turf zone on it sometime ago. Before coming here I had no real idea how close the Falls Road is to the Shankhill Road. They are separated by 20 metres (the Peace line) and 2 very strong gates that can be closed if it all goes belly up again. I think it’s fair to say that Catholic Belfast has an affinity to Palestine and there are a number of murals showing this. The murals on both side of the divide are a big tourist attraction and it was hard to get shots without people. I prefer those on the Catholic side as they tend to be more colourful and thought provoking. The extras are sunrise from our overnight stop and a collage of other murals in Belfast.
Best on black.
