Resting Up
Having thought I was just tired after all the exertions of the past week or so, I woke up with a headache, funny throat and lots of sneezing. Hoping to improve during the day, I sat quietly and tried to finish re-reading the novel I had recommended in time for the Tiptree Page Turners book club meeting later on. Sadly I only felt worse by the afternoon, and WhatsApped the group to say I wouldn’t be coming. As three others were also unable to make it, it was decided to postpone the meeting and reschedule for two weeks’ time. So hopefully we will all have completed the whole book, and I will get to hear what everyone thought of it. It was the first one we read with the Chesham Ladies’ Book Club nearly 15 years ago, and it went down really well with all of us then.
I managed to get to the village branch of Tesco for some food supplies, as a bigger shop at Sainsbury’s in Colchester was beyond me. In the evening I fell asleep on the sofa tucked up under two of the blankets Mum made for me, and woke up disorientated at 1.30 in the morning. Time to rest up.
