Apple Cake and Tea

The morning started showery but as the day progressed it became drier and sunnier. I took my chances with the weather, packed a flask of tea and slice of apple cake and spent the morning at the allotment. After three hours of cutting back plants and weeding, my newly emptied compost area was full again.

Unlike many of the plants, the dahlias are still going strong. This one is called Labyrinth and it seems to be more pink in colour than earlier in the year. Perhaps this is due to the cooler nights.

By evening I was feeling shivery and rather unwell. Andy’s had a virus this last week so it seems despite my efforts to avoid it, I’ve succumbed!
