Here's a church.
This is Inchnadamph Old Kirk . A beautiful building on the shores of Loch Assynt. It was built around 1741.
In the centre of the graveyard is the Macleod vault which has been added to the list of ancient monuments of national importance including the near by Ardvreck Castle and Calda House. The kirk, grade B listed has been restored to make an interesting information centre that is open a couple of days a week.
We drove to Ullapool and continued North as we took a chance on finding somewhere to stay but Ullapool was fully booked so we stayed in Newton Lodge, Kylesku in Sutherland.
We had a wonderful lunch in a seafood restaurant overlooking Handa Island enjoying the sunshine shining on the water and the cool sea breeze. The scenery was stunning without a cloud in sight all the mountain tops could be seen clearly.
The lochs were filled with white lillies and the wildflower verges with cotton grass blowing were beautiful too.
We also had a stroll along Oldshoremore bay, a wonderful sandy beach with turquoise clear water. People and dogs were splashing around having fun.
It was nice to be away.
