Protest
I was prepared for the office today. Up and dressed in good time with stubble carefully sculpted to hide some burgeoning chins.
The wee ones were packed off to school, but just as I was about to set off a ping on my phone stopped me in my tracks. We share our office with global insurer (also our former owners); Allianz, who over the course of the last few hours had their UK offices targeted in a protest connected with the war in the Middle East.
An early starter had arrived on site and taken a few photos (including this one) on her arrival to send to the team, which showed red paint splashed all over the building and broken windows. A stencilled message urged Allianz to “drop Elbit”.
If like me you had no idea who Elbit are, apparently they are a defence contractor based in Israel and I can only assume that Allianz provide some form of coverage for them here in the UK.
Looking likely that the offices will be closed for a few days now whilst the clean up takes place.
The rest of the day has been good though and featured a brew with a friend with cheese in her hair and a really lovely supportive message from another (I don’t know if she too had dairy products in her hair) whose kind words and advice were very much appreciated - as they have been from you lovely lot.
Maybe I need to crowd-source the next few years and have my life run by committee? Every one else looks like they have it figured out?
What’s that saying about it takes a village to raise an idiot….?
