Translucent Leaves

A bit damp outside from the overnight rain. Cloud clears to sunshine. However not much warmth or breeze. The washing is hung out to hopefully dry.

A nice pre lunch walk. There is some nice light on Allermuir Hill. To avoid a reblip, I photograph these horse chestnut leaves that have a nice translucence now the chlorophyll has been sucked out them. I learnt something out autumn leaves the other day. Leaves don't fall from the tree, they are pushed. Once the chlorophyll has bee removed from the leaf, it no longer produces a hormone telling the tree I am being useful. The tree, not wanting to get damaged in winter, decides to cut the leaf off from the tree by producing a small layer of cork, when pushes the leaf off the tree.

A couple of wee showers in the afternoon. Washing is brought in, but some of is still quite damp, so we have to use the tumble dryer. A rain shower arrives just as we go for a walk. Doesn't last long, so a nice walk. On the way back, the next rain shower can be spotted over Allermuir Hill on the way home. No sitting in the park today. We make it home just as rain arrives.
