A pink toilet?
Elsie Bambridge, the daughter of Rudyard Kipling, bought the Wimpole Estate with her husband. They set out to.restore Wimpole Hall. Mr Bambridge died after a few years. Mrs Bambridge carried on the work.
This is her bedroom. It is a pleasant comfortable room leading through to a bathroom where you can see a pink toilet on a plinth. The bath, handbasin and other bathroom furniture have been removed to give space to visitors to the house to walk through a small room safely. But the pink toilet is a talking point with our visitors...why is it there on its plinth? where are the other pieces? And then usually it turns to a chat about the colours of bath ware in the early 60s. Avocado comes out first every time!
