St Bride’s Church

I got soaked as I walked down to the station as it was pouring and there were large puddles in the road.

The people that joined me on the walk seemed to enjoy it.

Afterwards I had coffee with the person that used to be my boss.

After that I walked along Fleet Street so that I could see this church.

It is believed that its name is derived from Bridget of Ireland, the patron saint of Ireland. There have been at least seven churches on the site. There is also a story that in the 1700s a baker living nearby on Ludgate Hill wanted to make an impressive wedding cake for his fiancé. His eyes falling upon the steeple of St Bride’s, he was inspired to create the tiered wedding cake. No one knows if the story is true.
