CD woes

Have been trying to buy a CD player on eBay but now have to send back the second one that has not worked properly. The first one initially worked but then would not play at all and this one distorts the sound. I think this time it is about compatibility with my existing system, but I don’t know how to resolve it. So, began the process of repacking it when Leela jumped in the box and claimed it as hers.
She did eventually move and it’s gone.
