Modern Medlow

Between Blackheath and Katoomba is what used to be one of the mountain's most picturesque villages, Medlow Bath.
For many years it has been a traffic bottleneck and finally the very popular decision was made to build a tunnel under the mountain. Then the government changed and the plans were scrapped.
So now they have created massive disruption chopping down hundreds of trees and widening the two lane highway to four lanes. That might work except that on either side of the village it's back to two lanes. Consequently on weekends the holiday traffic is still backed up to Blackheath on one side and almost to Katoomba on the other.
I guess you could say it is modern, and certainly recent (even if it seems to be taking forever). Thanks for hosting Wide Wednesday:Modern or Recent, Steveng.

PS. A confession on the sky. It was very bland and boring so I replaced it using Photoshop Sky Replacement for a more interesting photo.
Today the Photogroup visited an exhibition on bird photography and the photographer explained that he sometimes used editing for a more attractive picture. So good enough for me too.
