(281) BOOM!
My intended blip has been relegated to an extra due to unexpected clear skies after dark.
In the afternoon I set out on the bike to explore a track near Loch Kernsary which I've not ridden before and eventually found a view of Loch Maree. A full-suspension mountain bike isn't essential for this type of track but it sure makes the ride a lot more comfortable.
In the evening the sky looked to be clearing up a bit and I thought I might get some decent starry sky photos but when my test shot showed a strong band of green I set out for a position with a view across Loch Ewe. After half an hour of waiting and watching, the sky lit up with a fantastic display of aurora, with colour and structure easily visible to the naked eye. I spent another hour in the silence and darkness enjoying the show and taking too many photographs. What a day!
