Pumpkin season
More fence-building this morning. It's an assault to the senses: noise, smell and dust.
Escaped to town for a bit of peace and supplies. The pumpkins are emerging. Bought a small crown prince pumpkin. The skin is a greyish-green and the flesh is a golden yellow and dense. The texture when roasted or made into soup is velvety, and the flavour nutty with a hint of sweetness. Infinitely preferable to the orange, Halloween version.
After lunch took hound for a walk. By this time some fencing was up. It is higher than the previous fence at nearly 6 feet. It does look very blocky in front of our kitchen window and where we sit and eat, but as neighbours we are unable to see each other.
Rang friend Giovanna for a catch-up.
The hound was requesting bedtime at 7.30pm. He seems to be responding to the early dark evening. He settles in his bed upstairs well. Noise unsettles him and today has been one of those days.
Cooler weather tomorrow.
Pleasant evening everyone.
