If you look closely you can see that this mum and offspring are a hybrid - they are not pure red deer but a hybrid with sika deer. 

Their faces are much more like sika with the 'frown' and the shape of the ears are more sika like too. Their rumps are much more red deer like.

Sadly there are very few pure red deer left and may not exist anymore as such here. Another consequence of introduced species.
