Exceeding admittedly minimal expectations
Another beautiful day; I really could get used to weather like this. Up early (slept well) to watch the Liverpool game at Crystal Palace (7:30am start here). First half was all LFC, but all we had to show for it was a solitary Jota goal. Very frustrating, as we were so superior it was untrue. Second half was mor lethargic – and somehow we allowed Palace back into the game. Allison managed to injure himself (looked like a hamstring) kicking a ball, and as Kelleher was sick, we had a third-choice keeper who hasn’t played before (Vites Jaros) coming on as sub. Fortunately, he was solid as a rock…
Did some more translation, then sent it off to the proofer in France.
And then to Mrs. Ottawacker’s nephew, Alex, to celebrate his birthday at 3:30. We were supposed to meet Mrs. Ottawacker’s brother there first to look at a bed he wanted to get rid of, but he wasn’t around, so we decided to bail and head off to the Landmark Theatre in Kanata to watch…. Transformers One, another one of the origins films. Expectations weren’t high – Alex is 15, so I expected little. But, it was actually pretty good. The cinema was one of those funky ones with large reclining seats and footrests, and Mrs. Ottawacker and I managed to sit behind Alex and Ottawacker Jr. Mind you, this meant the bucket of popcorn I got to share ended up in the front row too…
After the movie, we headed out to Crust & Crate, a pizza place on Kanata Road. It was actually very good. I’m usually a little leery of these places as, let’s face it, many of them are crap. But, despite serving a Tandoori Naan pizza, it was excellent. And craft beer too…
