Long day
Up at 6.30 to get showered and dressed to head to the airport for 8. Our flight to Heathrow wasn’t till 10.30 but needed time to drop the car off and get through security before having a spot of breakfast.
Traffic was relatively light and security was a breeze as we Edinburgh now has the new scanners so we didn’t need to remove anything from the carry on luggage. My case was selected for a manual check as I’m taking about €80 in coins which we’ve accumulated over the years to finally spend.
A quick bite to eat and an easy flight to London. We had a few hours to kill so treated ourselves to a lovely crispy chicken rice bowl for lunch before I paced the walkways looking for a pencil as the one I e brought fir my sudoku book appears to have a shattered lead. No pencils to be found anywhere. Waiting at the gate for check to open and we were asked to come forward. How nice I thought but turned out they wanted to offer us the chance to out our carry on cases in the hold free of charge which would give us the option to board with an earlier group. I was able to surrender mine but we kept Mr PHL’s one as it was full of spare lenses and watches etc. we were still allowed to board early. Flight was busy and many cases that came on board were much bulkier than mine and one had to be taken off by the staff as the locker wouldn’t close. No one claimed it so I hope they weren’t too surprised when they couldn’t find it on arrival!
We’d taken the opportunity to put AirTags in the hold baggage as we’ve not had much luck with recent previous flight but after an uneventful flight and very quick entry into Majorca, all the bags arrived and we were checked into our room a little before 9.
Ten minutes of unpacking and we headed out for a bite to eat. I thought a salad would be a lighter option - it was huge but very delicious. A nightcap in the terrace of the Irish bar we enjoyed in April and back to the hotel by 11.
