Argh!

I've spent much of this afternoon in a chat session with our IT team. I don't use the work laptop often, but I decided to dust it off this afternoon. The last time it was fired up was by the IT team at head office - they shipped it back and I left it packed up for a while. The laptop didn't recognise my password - a password that works fine on my own kit, that's how I do most of my work. We exchanged messages for some time with me answering questions and trying different things that might fix the problem. This included changing my password, not a major task but there is faff involved in logging into the systems we use with the new password; it's not a single input but lots of applications need to check my credentials and need the new password. Finally the person at the other end went away and came back asking me to try again with the current password & username. This time it went through. My account was locked, they had gone to unlock it...
