A day with promise,
a duty to perform and
a coffee date, too!

We have a provincial election on October 19th with advance polls opening today. I took advantage of the opportunity to cast my ballot early by driving across the north river to the reserve where a polling station was to open at 8 AM.

We had the use of the gymnasium on the grounds of the old Indian Residential School. It's been dubbed Moccasin Square Gardens. I feel sad when I drive in as this location was the site where the remains of 215 children who had been students of the old school were discovered three years ago. Unmarked graves, believed to belong to children as young as three years old, were discovered by the First Nations here. I feel as though I'm visiting a memorial site and I come in  with a sense of reverence.

I supplied the paper work, cast my ballot and was out the door with a sticker on my hand.

This afternoon I will be having a visit with a dear friend in our favourite coffee shop. I can expect to be served with papers during this time as I have a Supreme Court hearing this month. I had to give the server a place and time so I indicated the shop and said I'd be wearing a red hat. I have it ready!

I got this panorama of my mountains as I returned from voting. We have a lovely day coming along. I will enjoy my visit with J this afternoon in spite of the 'papers'.
