back to see
We had a plan for the day. Then on the way out of town we passed by a sign reminding us it was launch day at the Seaport for the oldest commercial vessel in America, following a 5 year restoration. So we changed our plans, made a hasty picnic somewhere shaded and headed off to find a good viewing spot. We were not alone, the town was busy and so was the river, a flotilla forming to greet the ship. It was hot and we waited a long time, not quite able to hear the speeches, but enjoying the hubbub. Finally to a crescendo of cannon fire and church bells the ship began it's slow descent into the river.
I liked this shot because it reminds me, a little bit, of an 18th century painting? Well maybe if you squint, stand at a distance and pretend the motor boats are something more manual!
