We spent time at Alnwick Castle – now known by Harry Potter fans as the place where Harry and his class mates leant to fly a broomstick and play quidditch.  This afternoon there was even a class on a broomstick training course but none had Harry’s skill!  It is the second largest inhabited castle in the country and has been home to the Duke of Northumberland’s family, the Percys, for over 700 years.
Later we visited the former Alnwick railway station which is now the location of the famous Barters Books with thousands of second hand books for sale.
