Lit up

As we watched the news at 10 on Thursday evening, the reports of the aurora and sudden postings from friends on Facebook etc made us go out and look into the skies.

There were faint traces of green but nothing very intense and even with the use of a phone to enhance the lights there was not much to see. So we felt we had missed the show.

Just after midnight we thought we’d look again and, with the phone camera and a 10 second setting, I got this view looking towards Edinburgh Castle with Arthur’s Seat and Salisbury Crags just off to the right.

Turning a bit more to the west there were more reds and pinks as in the extra. Quite a sight.
