Tiny....

....inconspicuous purple or nearly black flowers with tiny yellow stamens, pretty against the variegated foliage and delicately fragrant, only flowering in spring.

Known as Black Maipou or Pittosporum colensoi, named after William Colenso (7 November 1811 - 10 February 1899) who was a Cornish Christian missionary to New Zealand, and also a printer, botanist, explorer and politician.

Black Maipou is found on lowland to lower montane forests from Bay of Plenty southwards, it is endemic to New Zealand.

Just a touch of New Zealand for Flower Friday, thanks to Anni (BikerBear) for continuing to host.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone - Happy Friday :)
