Montreuil-sur-Mer
If you are a keen historian, you might recognise the name of Montreuil-sur-Mer; it was the headquarters of the British Army in France during the First World War.
I was more interested in the old fortifications on our brief look around, this morning. In combination with what we saw of the town, last evening, it was enough for us to start planning a trip next spring.
We had to get away promptly, though, to drive up to Calais for the ferry, taking it easy such that there were no more dashboard warnings.
After a calm crossing, during which we worked, we drove up to Chiswick. This time the lights did come on. It seems to be every time we go uphill and stray above two thousand revs. The car still seems fine, though.
In the evening, we met up with my old friends, Keith and Ange, for a few drinks and a meal in The Lamb. They were as terrific as ever, and it was a great finish to our holiday.
