Chinese Lanterns

... or Physalis alkekengi. Strictly speaking these aren't flowers. But the lanterns that hold the seeds are more striking than the creamy-white flowers they replace. So they are my offering for Flower Friday, with thanks to host BikerBear/Anni. I have stuck them in a vase like flowers! They were growing in our front garden, where more remain. I just cut three stems free of the bindweed chains that were nearly choking them.

This morning began with the first frost this autumn, so not sure how much longer our flowers will go on This evening we are expecting our son, daughter-in-law, and Master Bug Pugglesworth. Hooray!
