The Edge of the Wold

St Edith’s aurora

I’ve blipped this night view before, but not with the Aurora Borealis colouring the sky. But for a phone call from Eduardo, we would have missed seeing the lightshow. After the first call we went to the top of Garrowby Hill, but it was disappointing and barely visible with the naked eye. We went home, and then there was a second call. This time we went for a circuit around the top of the village, and the red lights in particular were bright - lighting up the sky behind our house, but also diametrically opposite. It was this direction that gave the backdrop to the steeple of St Edith’s from the top of the village.
