Lit Fest!

Ann joined us today at the Cheltenham Literature Festival for "the Siege" a talk by Ben Macintyre and Sim Harris about the Iranian Embassy Siege of 1980. The three of us remember watching the TV and the programme (snooker championship) stopping to take us to live action of the SAS storming the Embassy to rescue the hostages. Ben has written a book all about it and Sim was one of the hostages, a journalist who took notes for the duration of the Siege. The background info to the siege was fascinating as was the discussion around how the police and the SAS planned the rescue. It sounds like a really good book.
