Trouble in the garden

 
Caught on camera ( see extra) the sparrowhawk attacking our bird feeder. No wonder the small birds are staying away . Only the nuthatches are brave enough to risk it. 
 
What to do? A quick search on google and one suggestion is to buy a fake owl as a decoy. It might work. But will it also scare away the small birds?
