Relaxed
It rained all night and through the morning, finally stopping around 13:00 but was still heavily overcast and relatively cool, at around 24°C. A stakeout for the blue/green cuckoo bee was obviously not going to happen. Conjuring up a blip was never going to be a problem, as there were several large spider webs to fall back on.
As anticipated, the patch of scrub was totally devoid of life, but there were plenty of hoppers, a few flies, a blue banded bee and a few butterflies around, in fact much busier than I ever anticipated.
This extremely large hopper, in excess of 3 inches long, was looking rather nervous of the big eye. I urged him to relax, as the camera has already been fed. The hopper then folded his arms and cocked his head over for his portrait. So happy with the result, he requested a copy.
Hoping for a better day tomorrow, to resume the hunt for the cuckoo wasp.
